Crawford's Redux with Nik HDR Efex Variants

1. Nk HDR Efex single image processing
This is a repost of a 2009 picture of the Craford's department store entrance.  I'm struggling through the process nailing down a look for a series architecture details like this.  Criticism is most welcome if you care to comment.  I think the story here is color, but I'm always drawn to monochrome.  First up is a crisp, single image tone mapping in Nik HDR Efex.  It brought out some detail and color.

2. "CSI: Miami" processing in Nik Color Efex Pro
I saved a preset in Nik Color Efex Pro based on the Glamor Glow that I call CSI Miami.  I use it primarily to soften detail and introduce a feel of romance and nostalgia.

3. Nik Silver Efex Pro "Grainy Nude"
The "Grainy Nude" is my own preset that I worked out in Silver Efex Pro for nudes to emulate the look pushed Ilford HP5 printed on Agfa Portriga Rapid paper.  It works well for some architecture subjects, too.

4. Nik Silver Efex Pro blue/sepia split tone
Finally, a slick monochrome from Nik Silver Efex Pro using the "High Structure" preset and blue/sepia split tone.  For me, the final pick is a toss up between 1 and 4.

Thank you Preston - I especially like the Leica preset. You should submit these to niksoftware.com. Once they check them out they can add it to their Silver Efex Pro preset page.

Lenny, I hope you enjoy the presets. My aim for Leica I was to get that look from of late 1920s pictures. I'll see what it takes to submit them to Nik - thank you for the suggestion. What sort of shooting do you do? I'd love to see your work.

I do restorations, HDR with Photomatix,B+W with SEP, and composites. I can't try Nik HDR Efex Pro because I have only a 32 bit PC. They told me to expect the 32 bit version in 2011. The demo crashed my PC each time. Here are My Flickr photos :

Lenny, that is some excellent work... Thank you for sharing! I never warmed up to Photomatrix, so my hat is off to you for mastering it.

I'm running the Nik HDR Efex on a Windows 7 32-bit laptop without issues. It could be that your download was corrupted. My first three download attempts came up short.

Thank you for the kind words, Anoop H. Yes, I'm having quite a bit of fun trying to learn HDR techniques.
